Tyler's update!

I have been the mother of a 1st grade soccer player for the past couple of months. I am loving it. Tyler is so smart. He just amazes me everyday. I love being his mommy. But I feel like I have been a horrible mother because I have been so wrapped up with my own school that it wasn't until last night that it really hit me that my son, my baby, can READ. I know I sound silly but this is a milestone. I asked him, "So when did you start reading???" He then tells me, "Like a month ago, duh! I am in 1st Grade now, Mommy!"

School these days for me!

Wow it has been so long since I have blogged. So...I am back.

It feels like last time I blogged it was about school. And here I am again talking about school. I am so TIRED of school. Why?? Well...I have been in school give and take a couple of semesters here and there since 2003. Yeah...I know...And I don't have a darn thing to show for it. Well I will one day and we will be having a BIG Partay to celebrate. So. I have changed majors and I am so at peace about it. I love my new major along with my semi-somewhat minor. I have decided to turn my hobby into a career.

I have always loved computers. Love problem solving with computers. Love helping family and friends with their computers. I absolutely love that feel of helping someone/anyone out with their computer. I have also grown to have an obsession with designing graphics on the computer at the same time. I have enjoyed creating/building and editing our website at work. So...back to what I was saying about my major...I am now persuing a degree in Computer Information Systems with concentration in Networking and somehow/someway getting a minor in Graphic Design. I think that if I can combine my knowledge of computers with my creativity and passion for graphic designing, I might could go far. I hope I will go far.

So if anyone needs an IT person, please let me know. I still think its going to stink that I can't charge my family for all of the backpay once I get my degree for all of my computer guidance all of these years. JK.

Jeff fa fa Dun ham Dot Com

Can I just say one word...HILARIOUS! Back a couple of weeks ago, Kenny and I along with my sister and her boyfriend had the pleasure of going to the Columbus Civic Center and watching Jeff Dunham Live! That was so much fun! He is too funny! I have known about him for a while now and watched his DVDs over and over for the past couple of years. But nothing beats going to one of his live shows. Although I had heard some of his jokes before, being there watching him do his ventriloquism acts live and in person made them even funnier. I was impressed with the amount of people who also attended the show. I can't wait until the next time I get to go to another one of his shows. I wish he could come to Auburn.

A Weekend with The Hubby

So this past weekend I treated my husband to a weekend away with none other than his precious wife. (or so I hope he thinks is precious) This was the weekend that was most needed. Last week, life was a bit crazy. Kenny celebrated 29 wonderful years of life. So me, trying to be the best wife that he could ever have asked for decided to surprise him with a trip to Atlanta. He had NO clue where we were going until we were leaving. I had every intention on blindfolding him and keeping it a secret until we got to our destination, but my mother and her mouth kinda told him where we were going Friday evening as she was getting off of the phone with her friend. He was excited that I did not have to blindfold him. But more excited that I had been so thoughtful to plan a weekend for he and I to spend quality time with each other. What did we do this weekend, you ask...well I had some quality relaxation time and got a massage, Kenny spent some time with a friend of ours. Then later that night we went out to eat, to a couple bars in Buckhead, and then back to the hotel. Not having a schedule and able to go and do as we please was just so nice. Now I am just wondering when is the next trip??

Observations

This semester of school I am getting a taste of what teaching is like. I am taking a class that required me to complete 12 hours of school observations and 10 hours of volunteer time. This past Thursday I finished my 12 hours.
Monday, the 9th, I did the first 3 hours of observations at OHS. I went to Mrs. Karen Bush's Chemistry class. I did not understand what she was teaching the students but I did like the way she teaches. I do NOT want high school students. They have way too much drama and hormones, and ATTITUDE.
Then on Tuesday, the 10th, I went to Drake Middle School to Mrs. Shealy McKinnon's 6th grade classroom. That was an interesting day that I will never forget! Started the day off with a lockdown drill. That ended up going fine. Then they had class for about 35 min. The last little bit of the class time was in Book Fair. Fun Fun. Having been to my kindergarten son's book fair and going to a book fair for 6 and 7 graders, I had forgotten the difference in the two. Man do the books change! I truly enjoyed my 3 hours with Shealy. They weren't too bad. Some of the behaviors were yet to be desired but for the most part was acceptable.
Thursday, Last but not least, I spent a whole 6 hours with Mrs. Tamera Garner's 5th grade class. That was FUN!!! Having the whole day to watch the teacher's instruction, the classes response, and getting a feel of what a day in the life of a teacher is really like was just plain FUN!!! I can't wait to be a teacher.
I do appreciate teachers for what they do for the children who are our future leaders. I am so excited to call myself a Future Teacher. I want to thank Karen, Shealy, and Tamera for allowing me to come to your class.

My Updates for 2009

I am finally posting again. I have some updates to write about. First is school!!

1. Yippee!! I have started TROY UNIVERSITY! Yay! And so far...so good! I am liking it! So, for those of you who do not know, I am going to school to be an elementary teacher. Hopefully, a kindergarten teacher. But honestly, I will teach any grade that a job is offered once I get my degree. I now only have 4-5 more semesters left. That means IF I get into the TEP (Troy Education Program) I will graduate in about 2 years. I can finally see a peeping light at the end of the tunnel that is very small and dim but little light is better than none. I feel better that I can take classes that are centered around my major compared to the core classes.

2. So...since I am at a new school, I have met some new people. One happens to live in Auburn. We really have hit it off well, and become good friends. Which starts my next topic of updates. My new friend, Avie, has introduced me to the world of MARY KAY. She asked me one night after class to come to one of their Tuesday night meetings to be a face model. That was so much fun!! She and her director asked to meet with me tonight at Starbucks. So I met with them, and we got to talking and they presented an opportunity to make a little extra money that I cannot pass. I am now a CONSULTANT for MARY KAY! I am so excited. This is so weird. 5 years ago I was the type of person that did not care for makeup, dresses, nice clothes, shoes, or purses. Today, I love all of the above. I never dreamed of being the girly kind, but its not so bad.

3. Babies, Babies, Babies galore. I tell you, EVERYONE is havin babies. Well not for us! yay! (NO OFFENSE my prego friends) I am just so excited to see that everyone is still producing. Which means more babies for me to love and adore and give back to Mommy. Kenny and I will be waiting until I can finish with school and see what the future holds for us. I just love buying all of the baby gifts, clothes, and cute little stuff. All of the things that THEY keep coming up with to sell, is just so amazing and getting cooler and cooler every year. They neatest thing that I have seen is this awesome swing. I tell you it is the CADILLAC of baby swings. I went to my dear childhood friend Shealy's baby shower for Baby Kate. She was the lucky mommy-to-be to recieve this neat swing. Baby Kate is going to fall in love with the swing and will never want to get out. Man...what I would give for Fisher Price to make one adult size! He He! I think this is the one that she/they got but if not I am sorry. Its still cute. I was so overwhelmed with all of Baby Kate got this weekend. I just hope that Shealy and Clayton have room for Baby Kate now. I wonder where all of her gifts, clothes, and toys went.

I am just so glad that Shealy and Clayton are so blessed to have great friends and family that are able to show love and give Baby Kate all of her gifts.

My congratulations to all of you who are expecting. My prayers for those of you who have lost. And my support for those of you trying!!

4. My God is Good Stories. (I have two of them) The first one that I want to share is that I am so happy that a young single new mother of twins is finally able to go home to her babies. A friend of mine from way back when, had twins at the beginning of December. Whitney delivered the babies fine, and went home like normal with her babies in her arms. A day later she went into the hospital herself with Septic Poisoning. She has been operated on multiple times, on ventilators for weeks at a time, needless to say in ICU for the past 5-6 weeks. Last week, she went to sniff unit recovering well. And Finally after 7 long and scary weeks, Whitney has gone home to be a mommy to her beautiful babies. God is so good.

5. My second GOD story that I have is about a friend that I used to work with at the clinic. A few years back she and her husband started trying to get pregnant. They were not able to naturally, so they went to fertility drugs. And FINALLY they get pregnant with a little boy. He was born the weekend of our clinic beach trip, stillborn. That was very hard for them. But they are wonderful Christians and let God do his work. So about a year and a half later...they get pregnant AGAIN!! That's not even the best part. They were pregnant with TWINS!! Yay! I literally started crying in the middle of Opelika WalMart when I see her standing in the baby section and carrying two babies in her belly. (At that time I had no knowledge of her pregnancy until I saw her) They were born quite premature but are doing wonderfully. I am even more excited because this weekend I get to buy cute little gifts for Trevor and Myles. The boys are expected to go home if all goes well Valentines Day! Yay! THANK YOU GOD!! You are wonderful!

That should be about it about the updates. I will be back for more later. Until then,
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."- Jeremiah 29:11
